What We Do and What We Do Not Do
In some areas, we share responsibility with other regulatory partners. In other cases the jurisdiction may be federal and you will want to contact the appropriate federal agency.
Here is a guide to some common questions about BCFSA's areas of responsibility

|Credit Union Deposit Insurance Corporation|
|Mortgage Brokers||Mortgage Brokers|
BCFSA has no responsibility for the regulation of the securities industry. Inquiries and complaints should be addressed to the B.C. Securities Commission. Website at http://www.bcsc.bc.ca
Banks and Other Financial Institutions
Banks are regulated by the federal government. Most banks have an Ombudsman who handles complaints against the bank. We recommend that you contact your bank for further information.
If you are not satisfied with the bank’s Ombudsman, there is an Ombudsman for Banking Services and Investments who may be able to assist you. The Ombudsman for Banking Services and Investments has a web site at www.obsi.ca.
The Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions (Canada) is responsible for bank regulation. The Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions (Canada) has a web site located at www.osfi-bsif.gc.ca.
