Strengthening Confidence in Real Estate Services

To help build lasting confidence in real estate services, BCFSA is seeking feedback on our exploratory discussion paper, “Strengthening Confidence in Real Estate Services”. Consultation for this discussion paper closes January 31, 2026, so don’t forget to have your say.

What we’re exploring

BCFSA is exploring potential ways to enhance transparency, fairness, and professionalism in real estate services in the province:

  • Transparency – proposed approaches include written service agreements with buyer clients, protections for buyers who make unconditional offers, requiring agents to obtain strata documents at the time of listing a home for sale, and additional disclosures in multiple offer situations.
  • Fairness proposed approaches explore fairness in compensation structures and enabling a broader range of remuneration models.
  • Professionalism – proposed approaches limit the ability of real estate agents to modify their fundamental agency and fiduciary duties to clients.

BCFSA wants to hear from you

Send your feedback on the proposed approaches by completing the consultation feedback form. We’re accepting feedback until January 31, 2026.
