BCFSA Reshapes Structure to Support Long-Term Sustainability
BC Financial Services Authority (“BCFSA”) today announced organizational changes to help support its long-term sustainability as the province’s integrated financial services regulator.
The financial services landscape is evolving rapidly—shaped by digital disruption, demographic shifts, economic pressures, and rising public expectations. These forces are prompting organizations across both the public and private sectors to re-evaluate how they operate.
“In response to these pressures, we’ve taken a thoughtful and deliberate approach to change,” said Tolga Yalkin, Chief Executive Officer and Chief Statutory Officer, BCFSA. “Our goal is to build a high-performing, sustainable organization that delivers value to the public and the sectors we regulate, while treating our people with fairness and respect throughout the process.”
As part of this work, BCFSA is simplifying its organizational structure into three core departments. These changes also include adjustments to reporting lines, a review of financial policies, and some role transitions or reductions. The goal is to ensure BCFSA’s structure and spending align with its mandate and long-term priorities.
In the coming weeks, BCFSA will begin the next phase of this work, focused on how it operates within the new structure. This includes clarifying roles, streamlining processes, and identifying opportunities to work more effectively across teams. While some staff may experience changes in responsibilities, others may be affected by further structural adjustments. BCFSA remains committed to engaging openly and supporting our people throughout this transition.
“This is about positioning BCFSA for the future,” said Yalkin. “We’re making changes now so we can continue to meet rising expectations, adapt to a changing landscape, and deliver on our mandate with integrity and impact.”
These changes are part of a broader effort to build a high-performing, sustainable organization—one that continues to deliver the high level of service and support that industry and the public expect from BCFSA.
