Managing Change: Information and Resources to Support Licensees
With the Superintendent’s agency and disclosure rules in effect for nearly three months, it’s time to announce that Real Advice will be ending later this month. We’ve been bringing you weekly information and resources about the changes to the rules since December 14th, helping you to prepare for regulatory change. While you won’t see Real Advice popping up in your email box after September, don’t forget about the many other resources from RECBC:
- The mandatory Rule Changes: Agency & Disclosure course available online through UBC’s Sauder School of Business;
- The Report from Council newsletter which will continue to bring you updates and regulatory news each month
- Our podcasts and webinars about timely topics of interest;
- The Licensee Knowledge Base, filled with information and advice about how to comply with the rules in many common scenarios;
- Thevideos and guides to each of the new disclosure forms and the new agreement. The videos are being used in the Applied Practice Course to help new licensees understand how to use the forms – and they’ll help you too.
- Back issues of Real Advice, featuring resources and learning tools we’ve developed to support you in complying with the requirements;
- The Rules themselves – going straight to the source is a good solution when you have questions.
If you can’t find the information you need on our website or through the mandatory course, check with your managing broker.
If your managing broker isn’t able to answer your question, contact one of RECBC’s Professional Standards Advisors. They are available by phone at 604.683.9664 or email at advisor@recbc.ca.
As you continue to integrate the changes into your business practices, keep in mind that your core responsibilities haven’t changed:
- The fiduciary duties that underpin your agency relationship with your clients: loyalty, confidentiality, full disclosure.
- Your role as a trusted advisor with special expertise.
- Your responsibility to exercise professional judgment.
Treat these responsibilities as your guide posts to navigating this new era of consumer protection.
Did you know? The RECBC Forms App works with or without an internet connection.
- If your device is connected to the internet, an email is automatically sent with the form attached as soon as you complete the disclosure.
- If your device is not connected, completed forms will be saved under Recently Saved Forms and will send the next time your device has a connection.
Make sure to connect to the internet within 72 hours of completing a form. After 2 hours any forms saved on your device will be deleted and cannot be recovered.
