Participate in National Insurance Awareness Day
This #NIAD26, take time to check and understand your coverage.
Across Canada, extreme weather events like wildfires and floods continue to impact communities.
On June 28, BC Financial Services Authority (BCFSA) is reminding consumers to review their property insurance policies, learn more about improving their property’s resilience, and connect with an insurance professional to ensure their home and property are protected.
Taking a few minutes to understand your coverage today can make a meaningful difference if the unexpected happens tomorrow.
Do you know what it would cost to rebuild your home or replace your belongings after a loss? Do you have the right coverage to meet your needs?
It’s important to remember that not all losses are covered under a standard policy. For example, earthquake or overland flood typically require optional coverage. A conversation with your insurance professional can help clarify what’s included and where you may need additional protection.
Questions to consider:
- Am I covered for floods, wildfires, and other extreme weather events?
- Have I installed upgrades to improve the resiliency of my property by installing heat, flood, or fire protection measures?
- Do I need additional coverage for risks like earthquake or flood?
- What are my deductibles, limits, and any gaps in coverage?
