BCFSA is now offering a new version of Ethics — Professionalism and Principles in Practice. The course is available targeted for each of the following streams of learners: Trading Services licensees, Rental Property Managers, Strata Property Managers, and Managing Brokers.
Please note: BCFSA requires licensees to take one Ethics course during every two-year licence term, but registering for a service-specific version of the course is not mandatory. However, the managing brokers version of the Ethics course should only be taken by licensed managing brokers.

Professionalism and Principles in Practice focuses on how licensees apply ethical judgment in real-world conditions to protect the public and deliver defensible, client-focused service. The course emphasizes practical systems, professional habits, and sound decision-making that strengthen compliance, trust, and long-term professional success.

Course Overview
Who Must Take this Course
All licensed real estate professionals are required to complete the current version of the Ethics Course (Professionalism and Principles in Practice). Whether you are a representative, an associate broker or a managing broker and whether you provide trading services, rental property management services, or strata management services, you’ll learn valuable information about ethical decision making in real estate in this course.
Professionalism and Principles in Practice is the fourth ethics course in BCFSA’s ethics continuing education program. BCFSA’s ethics program requires licensees to take one ethics course during every two-year licence term.
What You Will Learn
This course focuses on how real estate licensees apply ethical judgment in everyday practice to protect the public and deliver consistent, defensible service. You will learn how professionalism is supported not only by understanding legal and regulatory obligations, but by building practical systems, habits, and decision-making approaches that hold up under real-world pressures.
Through applied scenarios and cross-practice examples, this course explores ethical decision-making across trading services, rental property management, and strata management. While some content may relate to roles or service areas outside your current practice, developing a broad understanding of professional responsibilities across the industry supports collaboration, accountability, and public trust.
A version of this course tailored specifically for managing brokers is also available, with activities focused on supervision, risk management, and oversight responsibilities.

We encourage you to take the course as soon as possible within your two-year licensing period.
Course Cost
The Professionalism and Principles in Practice course fee is $175. Course fees must be paid upon registration.
Course revenues support the development of further educational resources and courses to enhance real estate professionals’ knowledge and help them to comply with regulatory requirements.
Course Length
Learners are provided with a two-week period to complete the online modules which will, in most cases, take an estimated 8-10 hours. This is followed by a one business day break, before learners attend the virtual classroom. Component One is self-paced providing learners with flexibility to balance educational requirements with the needs of their business and must be completed before Component Two begins.
Course Details
While taking Professionalism and Principles in Practice you will be required to engage more in online and classroom activities and researching various ways that real estate professionals may build their business culture. Expect to spend time during the virtual classroom session discussing scenarios and actively participating with your peers as you consider the elements from the online component listed below:

- This course has two parts: a self-paced online component followed by a virtual classroom session that should take 8-10 hours to complete.
