New Applied Practice Courses Consultation Moves Ahead

BCFSA’s Applied Practice Courses focus on building practical skills and learning key areas of regulatory requirements. Developing Applied Practice Courses is a regulatory priority for BCFSA, and we are actively engaging with industry members to ensure that these courses meet the needs of newly licensed professionals. Introducing and delivering courses that cover the skills most needed to succeed will help to ensure that licensees are equipped with critical knowledge for their roles and responsibilities.

Last year, we surveyed managing brokers, rental property managers, and strata managers to hear their feedback on the practical skills and knowledge most needed to fulfill their roles. Between April 19, 2023, and May 10, 2023, we received 1,241 responses to the survey. We value the feedback received; your insights and comments will support the development of Applied Practice Courses for new practitioners in these areas.

Next Steps: Technical Working Groups

More than half of the survey respondents (52 per cent) indicated their interest in taking part in additional consultation activities about the development of BCFSA’s Applied Practice Courses. We are pleased to announce that a representative group of industry members have been invited to participate in technical working groups as part of the next phase of course development. The membership lists are available on our website.

The members of the technical working groups will review the draft course outlines to ensure the quality, relevance, and effectiveness of the courses, based on their expert knowledge and practical experience. The membership of the working groups will include diverse perspectives to ensure that BCFSA receives the input required for the success of the project.

Thank you to all those who took the time to complete and contribute their expertise to the Strengthening Education: New Applied Practice Courses Survey.
