BCFSA Releases Pension Plan Administrators’ Guide
Guide will provide centralized resource for administrators of employer-sponsored pension plans
BC Financial Services Authority (BCFSA) has released a Pension Plan Administrators’ Guide: Roles and Responsibilities to promote good governance of employer-sponsored pension plans and provide a centralized resource for administrators.
BCFSA’s new guide brings together links to previously published resources and offers streamlined access to relevant industry materials, including certain guidelines issued by the Canadian Association of Pension Supervisory Authorities.
The guide was created to focus solely on the minimum standards established for B.C. pension plan administrators under the Pension Benefits Standards Act and the Pension Benefits Standards Regulation.
“By assisting administrators, BCFSA aims to build plan members’ confidence that their pension is being managed effectively,” said Nez Aquino, BCFSA’s Senior Vice President, Financial Institutions.
