June 28 is National Insurance Awareness Day, and BC Financial Services Authority encourages consumers to review their policies and speak to their insurance professional to make sure they have the right coverage for their homes and property.
With wildfires, floods, and other natural disasters becoming more frequent across Canada, understanding your insurance coverage is more important than ever. Do you know how much it would cost to rebuild your home or replace your personal belongings after a disaster?
Not all disasters and extreme weather events are automatically covered. For example, earthquake insurance often requires separate coverage. Speaking with your insurance professional will ensure you’re not caught off guard.
Now is the time to ask:
- Am I covered for floods, wildfires, and other extreme weather and natural disasters?
- Do I need extra coverage for earthquakes?
- What are my deductible and coverage limits?
