This Policy applies to the Managing Broker Applied Practice Course.

1. Interpretation

  1. 1.1 Definitions. The following words and phrases shall have the following meanings:

BCFSA” means the BC Financial Services Authority.

Business Day” means a day, other than a Saturday or Sunday, on which Provincial government offices are open for normal business in British Columbia.

Course” means BCFSA’s Managing Broker Applied Practice Course.

Course Start Date” means the date a Learner receives access to Component One, an online component, of the Course.

Learner” means a person who is enrolled in, or intends to enroll, in the Course.

Manager” means the BCFSA personnel responsible for management and administration of the Course.

  1. 1.2 Interpretation Principles. Where the context requires it, the masculine shall include the feminine and vice-versa and the singular shall include the plural and vice-versa.
  1. 1.3 Changes to Policy. This Policy may change from time to time without notice.
  1. 1.4 Conflict Between Versions. This Policy may be accessible from multiple sources. In case of conflict, the version posted on BCFSA’s website is considered to be the official version.

2. Enrollment and Fees

  1. 2.1 Enrollment. Enrollment in the Course may be completed on BCFSA’s website on the Course Enrollment page. Learners will be enrolled in the first available Course.
  1. 2.2 Fees. Course fees must be paid in full at the time of enrollment. Course fees include all Course materials. Course fees may change from time to time without notice.

3. Withdrawals

  1. 3.1 Withdrawal Requests. Requests to withdraw from the Course must be made in writing and emailed to education@bcfsa.ca.
  1. 3.2 Refunds. If a withdrawal request is made
  1. before the Course Start Date, BCFSA will refund 100% of the Course fee.
  2. after the completion of Component One and/or Component Two of the Course, BCFSA will refund 50% or the course fee, $437.50.

BCFSA will issue refunds only to the original credit card used during enrollment and will require approximately 3 weeks for processing. NO REFUND is available where the request to withdraw is received after completion of Component Two of the Course.

4. Course Structure

  1. 4.1 Course Components. Each Course consists of four components (including online components and virtual classroom components) which must be completed consecutively in their intended order. More information on Course content can be found here

5. Assessment

  1. 5.1 Component One. Learners are required to complete all modules and knowledge checks in order to successfully complete Component One. If a Learner does not complete all modules and knowledge checks, they may be required to redo Component One.
  1. 5.2 Component Two. Learners must attend all virtual classroom sessions in order to complete Component Two.
  1. 5.3 Component Three. Learners are required to complete all individual assignments, cohort group assignments and must attend all virtual classroom sessions in order to Complete Component Three. If a Learner does not complete all required activities in Component Three, they will be removed from the Course.
  1. 5.4 Component Four. Learners must attend all virtual classroom sessions in order to complete Component Four.
  1. 5.5 BCFSA’s Authority. BCFSA has the sole discretion and is the final authority over all matters concerning the validity of quizzes, assignments, assessment scores, and completion status.
  1. 5.6 Withdrawal After Component One. Learners who withdraw after completing Component One, but before completing Component Two, will not be required to redo Component One if they re-enroll in the Course within one year after completing Component One. If they re-enroll in the Course more than one year after completing Component One, they must redo Component One in its entirety.
  1. 5.7 Timely Completion. Learners who do not complete the required components within the required time frames, will be required to redo the entire Course in order to receive credit for completion of the Course.

6. General

  1. 6.1 Change of Profile. Learners are responsible for notifying BCFSA in writing of any change to their address, email address or phone number. Correspondence will be sent to the latest address on record. Notification must be sent to BCFSA under a separate cover from any Course work.
  2. 6.2 Notices to BCFSA. Notices and correspondence to be provided to BCFSA under this Policy may be sent by email to education@bcfsa.ca.
  3. 6.3 Discretion of the Manager. Notwithstanding anything contained in this Policy to the contrary, where a Learner alleges that they have been unfairly prejudiced by the application of this Policy, an application in writing may be made to the Manager for relief. The Manager may take such action on such terms as the Manager sees fit.
  4. 6.4 Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act. BCFSA’s collection, use, disclosure, and retention of information is subject to the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act. Personal information collected by BCFSA in connection with the Course will be used by BCFSA only for the purposes of licensing, Course administration and delivery; for a use consistent with that purpose; or as otherwise permitted by law.   5. 6.5 Accommodation. Learners who require accommodation in order to attend, participate in, or complete the Course due to a limitation which is associated with or caused by a characteristic protected under the Human Rights Code should contact BCFSA to make an accommodation request.
  6. 6.6 Appropriate Use of Educational Materials. While a great deal of care is taken to provide accurate and current information in the Course, neither BCFSA, its staff, or consultants assume responsibility for any use or reliance beyond the Course’s operation. Course materials are prepared for educational purposes with the understanding that the publisher is not engaged in rendering legal, accounting, or other professional advice. The general principles and conclusions presented are subject to local, provincial, and federal laws and regulations, court cases, and any revisions of the same.
  7. 6.7 Disclaimer. BCFSA reserves the right to amend Course schedules, Course availability, fees, content, policies, manuals, and other reference materials without notice at its sole and absolute discretion. Learners may be required at any time to incur expenses such as travel and accommodation expenses in relation to the Course, whether the Course schedule is amended or not, and those expenses shall be the sole responsibility of the Learner.
