Working at BCFSA
BC Financial Services Authority (BCFSA) is a regulatory crown agency of the Government of British Columbia with offices in Vancouver and Victoria. Working for BCFSA means playing a vital role in protecting the interests of consumers engaging in the financial services sector.
BCFSA is the single regulator responsible for B.C.’s financial services sector, with regulatory oversight of credit unions, trust companies, insurance companies, mortgage brokers, pensions plans, and real estate services. These sectors are not only a key driver of B.C.’s economy but also directly impact the lives of all British Columbians.
As we grow our team, we aspire to attract and retain individuals who are committed to protecting the public interest and maintaining confidence in the financial services marketplace. We offer an exciting, culturally diverse work environment that is representative of the diversity of our province.

BCFSA was established in 2019, replacing the Financial Institutions Commission (FICOM) as British Columbia’s regulator of credit unions, insurance and trust companies, mortgage brokers, and pension plans. However, at that time, the financial landscape was evolving, presenting new risks and consumer needs. In 2021, BCFSA integrated the Real Estate Council of BC (RECBC) and the Office of the Superintendent of Real Estate (OSRE), to become a single integrated regulator of B.C.’s financial services sector. The integration simplified accountabilities and enhanced regulatory oversight through more effective and efficient business processes, investigations, and compliance and enforcement activity. Creating a single financial services regulator was a key recommendation from the Combatting Money Laundering in BC Real Estate Report.
